Your spotlight on local services

Gone – but make sure they’re not forgotten

Rainhill Parish Council wants to hear from residents who can help ensure its local First World War heroes are honoured in the village.

The council wants to honour every Rainhill serviceman and woman who gave their lives during the conflict – by including their names on the civic war memorial.

Following research by a Rainhill resident, 11 additional names will be added to the Memorial on Warrington Road on 3 July – the Sunday closest to the centenary of the start of the first battle of the Somme.

If you know of anyone from Rainhill parish who gave their lives during World War One, and whose name you think should be added to the memorial, please send details to Gillian Pinder, Clerk to Rainhill Parish Council, via email to rainhillpc@hotmail.co.uk or by post to 12 Toftwood Gardens, Rainhill, L35 OQX.

It’s essential that service numbers and regiments are also included to enable the parish council to confirm the person’s details.

The deadline for notifications is 3 May 2016.
